Kuehnis, RitaParticipant
Thanks Thomas – your suggestions are all valid and have been tried. I think I will make the phone app solution work until Scan snap agrees to recognize this issue and find a solution. My time without a computer while it is rebuilt…is not feasible right now!
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantVera – reboots work consistently for me but aren’t really feasible everytime I want to use it.
However since most of my use is for email, I can use my phone app to scan and then email the doc as needed. Takes laptop out of it and works well. Just a work around but worth a try for you!
Anyone else?
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantI use LastPass and add the few clients that need it as family members. I have a folder for each client and share the folder w my assistant if she needs to be involved. I have also got folders I share w my child, husband and clients. I have the app on my phone and it is available via web browser from anywhere.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantThanks all for your suggestions. I tried several tools and found nothing to brag about. So I made it a searchable PDF and I hope that meets the atty’s needs.
FYI – Victoria, your answer gave me a chuckle. You are exactly right and I would have loved to have had online access. But since it is a fraud investigation, banks and teleco close ranks and will only provide data on paper!
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantThanks Katherine – I agree that some oversight is needed. And the ASFP was attempted to make required several years ago but the rollout was poorly done and expensive!
FYI – for anyone interested, I have already completed 5 of the six courses. They were the smaller ones but full of good information as DMMs or as tax preparers.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantThanks Julianne. The one I am looking at is from CEU\ Self Study and includes some interesting topics that apply to us as DMMs as well. Cost is $79 for 18 hrs w exams…https://www.ceselfstudy.com/all-courses/
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantIt was the web access I was referring to, sorry! I have not turned it on yet as it will require separate licenses for any client needing this access and I am finding several banks that do not play nice with the web access…so you are correct, it is not ready!
December 27, 2018 at 4:06 pm in reply to: What do I need to know as a DMM that I do not know about conservatorships? #12849Kuehnis, RitaParticipantThe way the courts treat conservator banking relationships varies by state. If they require a restricted account, most banks use cashiers checks and require the conservator to present court documents showing court approval for withdrawing funds. In some cases, there is a smaller unrestricted account for which the bank moves money based on a pre-approved budget. That money must be used for the specific items in the budget like utilities and mortgages.
You could assist the client to set things up but I doubt the court would allow you to be delegated the authority for the above role. If client oversteps the delegated authority, they may be removed. I would hold a conference with the atty who represents the incapacitated adults as that person is to protect those people and also should have a clear understanding of what is being delegated and why.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantDo any of you involve more than one person and therefore the need to cover a common number?
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantRoxanne,
I did claim my business on google and that was when the calls started. I get several calls a week from SEO types across the country. So there are pros and cons to claiming the business!
I also had issues with Google not recognizing the common name for my bus street address. They wanted to call it “country road #…” instead. Many phone calls later, I gave up! I don’t live in a small town!!!

Baffled BettyKuehnis, RitaParticipantI look at it this way – if you have two or more people involved who want to be members of AADMM, you join as an agency – there is a cost break associated with the members beyond an individual membership for each.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantI have used lastpass for over a year. I have the premium version so I can use it from any device. Further, they just added a family option for no additional cost (promo) – this gives me the ability to provide my new employee access to a delegated portion of my vault. I retain control but she can use for supporting the client base.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantEvernote does what I need. Not so much a CRM but more an electronic record keeper.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantFor Fiduciary services, I bill by the hour as I typically am answerable to the court and therefore need to itemize. For regular PDMM work, I try to bill a flat fee unless a special project is required where hourly is the only way to go.
Kuehnis, RitaParticipantQuicken for Mac tends to be a few releases behind and therefore less functionality. I have one client who uses it. All my others allow me to do the work on my machine and I provide monthly reports. I do take my laptop in the few cases where they do not want electronic downloads. Otherwise, I do the downloads and pay bills from my office via my laptop.
Please realize that the MAC version will gain functionality now that Quicken has spin off from Intuit. I hope we see significant changes to both MAC and Windows now where the Intuit focus tended to be on Quickbooks.
